DesktopWineCellar - Frequently Asked Questions & Hints

1) Loging In / Won't Recognize My Username and Password -
DesktopWineCellar is best viewed with Internet Explorer (IE) 5.0 or
higher. Ensure your browser has "Cookies Enabled". For IE
- Go to Tools, Internet Options, Privacy, Advanced, and move the slider
to Medium or allow it to Accept cookies.
Use of Cookies
DesktopWineCellar uses "cookies" to help you personalize your online
experience. A cookie is a text file that is placed on your hard disk
by a Web page server. Cookies cannot be used to run programs or deliver
viruses to your computer. Cookies are uniquely assigned to you, and
can only be read by a web server in the domain that issued the cookie
to you. One of the primary purposes of cookies is to provide a convenience
feature to save you time. For example, if you personalize DesktopWineCellar
's pages, or register with DesktopWineCellar sites or services, a cookie
helps DesktopWineCellar to recall your specific information on subsequent
visits.
Most Web browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can usually
modify your browser setting to decline cookies if you prefer. If you
choose to decline cookies, you may not be able to fully experience the
interactive features of the DesktopWineCellar services or Web sites
you visit.
AOL Users
As indicated, DesktopWineCellar is best viewed with IE 5.0 or higher.
If you are using AOL, login as normal, then open a separate IE browser.
Ensure this browser accepts Cookies as described above. It is unclear
how to Enable Cookies in AOL at this time.
2) Forgot my Password and/or Username -
Go to Forgot Password and type in the
email associated with your account. Your Username and Password will
be sent to the email associated with your account.
If your email has changed, Log in to your account and change your email
in the "Profile" section.
3) Helpful hints -
We hope you enjoy building and sharing your DesktopWineCellar Online
Wine Collection. We have designed DesktopWineCellar to be intuitive
and easy to use. To get the most out of your DesktopWineCellar, here
are a few quick hints:
- Adding / Modifying wines -
To add a wine to your online winecellar, just click the Add button,
then complete the appropriate wine fields. Make sure you select Add
this wine to: "Cellar".
To modify a wine, simply find the wine as described above, select it,
and click the Edit button. You can change any part of your wine details
at anytime. You can also choose to Delete to remove a wine and all associated
Tasting Notes.
- Adding Tasting Notes / Removing a Bottle -
To add a tasting note or remove a bottle, simply find the wine, select
it, and click the "Add Note / Remove Bottle" button at the
bottom of the wine detail. The bottles remaining for this wine will
be automatically updated to reflect that bottle being consumed or removed.
- Creating a Wish-List of wines -
To add a wine to your Wish-List, just click the Add button, then complete
the appropriate wine fields. Make sure you select Add this wine to:
"Wish-List". Wine recommendations emailed to you from other
DesktopWineCellar members can be easily added to your Wish-List by clicking
the view wine, and then selecting add to my Wish-List.
- Sharing / Transferring / Emailing wines -
You can easily share your wines with members and non-members alike.
Simply select the wine from your DesktopWineCellar, click the Email
Winee button and enter the Send To email address(es). Other DesktopWineCellar
members can add a copy of the wine to their own Wish-List if they want
with just a couple clicks. Non-members can view and print a complete
copy of the wine details.
Use our new "Share WineCellar" link. After login, click "Share
WineCellar" and DesktopWineCellar automatically creates an email
template with your Username, Password, and Email. Simply input the send
to emails.
- Find a wine -
To find a wine, you can use one of three methods: 1) select a wine from
Your Last 10 Wine Additions on your homepage 2) go to the Find section
and search by Keyword, Region, Wine Type, Ready or Hold, or by Wish-List,
Cellar, or Consumed. 3) go the Summary section displaying all of your
wines.
- Wine Collection Reports -
We have included a variety of reports you can create with just a click.
Some of the reports include: Wish-List, Consumed Wines, Value and Cost,
Vintage, Wines Ready to Drink, and more. You can easily search and find
wines based on many different criteria.
- Recommend DesktopCookbook to a friend -
As more people you know have DesktopWineCellars, the easier it is to
add wines to your Wish-List with just a couple of clicks. You can easily
recommend DesktopWineCellar to a friend by clicking Recommend to A Friend
from the footer on any page and use our online form.
- Renewal -
Your DesktopWineCellar membership is permanent. No additional charges
are required to maintain your account. Your account can be terminated
based on inactivity or misuse. DesktopWineCellar will make best effort
to contact the email of account prior to termination.
- Give us your feedback -
We always welcome your feedback and comments. You can send us feedback
at anytime by clicking Contact Us from the footer on any page and use
our online form.
